Quentin Tarantino’s latest film is not for the squeamish or faint of heart but delivers on every level with a stellar cast, brilliant cinematography and a screenplay full of glorious intrigue.
The story follows a group of strangers as they attempt to wait out a blizzard at a carriage stop in post civil war Wyoming. Once all the main players enter the lodge tensions rise as we learn that not all of these colorful characters are everything they appear to be.
Even though the film takes place in predominantly one location, the cinematography by Robert Richardson gives what would otherwise be a very claustrophobic environment great scope and serves to immerse the audience completely in this world.
The cast; which features Jennifer Jason Leigh, Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russel, Tim Roth, and Michael Madson; all give pitch perfect performances as they deliver the exquisite dialogue written by Mr. Tarantino.
Even though the film is nearly three hours long, the story moves along at a very brisk pace and keeps the audience at the edge it’s seat as the twists and turns take us on a thrilling ride of mystery, intrigue, and even comedy.
The Hateful Eight is a movie every cinema lover should run out and see.
